I am proud to be an Arkansan. As far as I am concerned, we are a model for the country. Through leadership from our Governor, Mike Beebe, and the state legislature, we continue to have one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation and have managed through the current economic crisis better than most states. Why? Because we live within our means. We value old fashioned qualities, like reliability and prudence.
Nevertheless, people in our District are hurting. The economy in Garland County depends heavily on small business, an influx of retirees and our largest employer, the medical industry. I believe our community faces serious challenges in the future and I want to serve as your voice in Little Rock to make sure we have the right kind of representation.
As a physician in Hot Springs for over 20 years, I have earned the trust of my patients and their families. They, as well as other doctors, business, and community leaders in Garland County share my concern about our future. I have identified specific issues that need to be addressed.
